Fat for the Summer

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Since it has started to warm up now that we are getting closer to June, I wanted to write about being fat and going through summer. Tips, tricks, and testimony on what to do and how to cover some not so fun things 😊

If you’re like me, you sweat a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean profusely. Like, I sweat in dead winter. I’m pretty sure I have hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating disorder) but there isn’t much you can do about it so who cares about the diagnosis. ANYWAY. So I sweat a lot. And there really isn’t much I can do about it. I have used Certain Dri anti-perspirant which you put on at night and it shrinks your pores. Works pretty well, I won’t lie. But if you overuse it, it gets REAL dry and super irritated. There’s that. I do wear compression top/dri-wicking/whatever you want to call it undershirts which seems to help also. One problem I can’t seem to fix though is my head/hair sweating. I have very thick and curly hair and that is the first thing to start sweating. I do wear a headband every now and then when I work out and look like a rejected extra from the “Physical” music video. Other than shaving my head, I will have to live that with that 😊

I found a good article from Stitch Fix here that talks about the best fabrics for summer. Some of those fabrics I have never heard of and most probably don’t work for men’s clothing but at least you have it. The less thick and restrictive fabric is the best for summer and sweat. If you can’t get good fabric, then second best is color/shade. Don’t wear black because it draws heat to you and sometimes your deodorant can stain it. I prefer a dark gray or a navy or something that won’t look much different when wet.

Since I have to dress business casual for work (which requires a jacket) that is an extra layer of fabric (and non-breathable) that I have to wear in dead summer. Now I leave my jacket at work instead of taking it with me every day. That way, it gets less wrinkled (plus!) and I don’t have to sweat my you-know-whats off walking to my car.

One other thing that has really helped me, is accepting the fact that it’s summer and I’m gonna sweat. If I’m going to an appointment and I start sweating, my first stop is the bathroom to grab some paper towels to get myself together. Drinking water helps because it helps you stay hydrated and cools your body in general so increase you H20 intake!
