Meal Plans

So it has been a little bit since I’ve been on here. I have decided to devote a little more time to this as it is pretty therapeutic but also, I’d love to help others who may have doubts or low motivation.

One of the things that always got to me was reading articles on what is the best way of losing weight or being healthy. One said low carb, one said Paleo, one said Weight Watchers, one said high protein, one said stop eating (not really). But there was too much information for me to process and I wanted to try everything. One article however, changed my thought process. It was on Intermittent Fasting. Intermittent Fasting is basically choosing a fasting period (full 24 hours, 12 hours, 16 hours, what have you) and sticking to that. You do need to do some cardio during the fasting period for your body to actually start burning fat but it was always changing so the body was never used it. And that is what clicked. Changing things up so that my body isn’t used to it – so here is what I do:

Mondays and Thursdays – Vegetarian. I eat like a vegetarian: Tofu (great with some TexJoy steak seasoning and sauteed); veggie versions of my favorites, and sometimes straight up a tub of Hummus. With a spoon.

Tuesdays and Fridays – Low Carb. These are my true low carb/keto/no carb/carb conscious days. I try to stay away from white potatoes, white breads, white rice, and basically anything white (dum dum tsss).

Wednesdays and Saturdays – Fasting Days. I choose to only eat between the hours of 12noon and 8pm on these days. And I try to be more healthy but that’s not always the case. And I don’t eat more, just normal size portions.

Sundays – do whatever I want. I’ve had a hard week of thinking about eating. If I want to grab McDonald’s after I’ve gone to the grocery store on Sunday, then that’s what I’m going to do.

I have been following the plan above and for the most part, stuck to it. I do have days, like today, when I didn’t eat breakfast at home and my only option at work is a bagel. But I don’t stress about it – I just try to be better at lunch and dinner.

I had to go to the doctor’s office for a check-up and within the 6 weeks I’ve been doing this, I’ve lost 5 lbs. Which I will take all day!
